openai dropped gpt-6.1-terra in the api – a fast, cheap model for vision, computer use and writing

the specs:
- $1 input / $5 output per 1m tokens – half the price of gpt-6.1-sol ($2 / $10), output 2.4x cheaper than gpt-5.6-terra ($12)
- 1.05m context, 128k output, knowledge cutoff june 2026
- text and images in, text out; reasoning effort from none to max
- computer use, web search, code interpreter and mcp in the responses api
- no benchmarks on the model page yet

heads up for long prompts: past 272k input tokens the whole request bills at 2x input and 1.5x output
